Temporary Adjustments

In addition to an array of status enhancements and ailments, characters can also gain and loose temporary points from any of their major scores as the combat goes on, through the use of job abilities, or through the use of terrain features. These temporary points represent in-the-moment adjustments, and range from +10 to -10. They stack with each other, up to those limits, so if you can pile on the temporary bonuses, you could find yourself with significantly higher scores than usual (and similarly, if an enemy piles on the penalties, they could drop very low).

These temporary points are all removed with the use of the Defend action, representing waiting through the moment that would otherwise provide that temporary bonus or penalty. They also are removed at the end of combat, but they can be applied by GM's even outside of combat, if the circumstances warrant it.
