Overview

AKA: Squire, Fencer, Warrior, Gladiator
Soldiers are aggressive warriors who know the ins and outs of combat intimately. They are versatile physical combatants, carrying power without the recklessness of the Berserker or the Dark Knight or the slow pace of the Breaker or the Samurai, and capable of defending themselves without the singleminded dedication of the Paladin or the Monk. They are also among the speediest melee warriors, being able to act faster than most others. Their abilities rarely have much of a delay, meaning at high levels they can chain attacks and moves together. They are melee attackers first and foremost, and perform reliably in the front lines. With the Soldier job, your character is choosing to become proficient in quick hand-to-hand combat, without necessarily throwing themselves full-bore into a focused, intense job.

Social Spirit: Soldiers are commanding and implicitly respected by many.
Knowledge Mind: Soldiers intuit the flow of combat and the tactical considerations of their actions

Swordplay

Soldiers gain the following powers as they gain job levels. The three major categories are Basics abilities, which give you versatility, Command abilities, which involve encouraging shouts and yells that enhance you or party members, and Mageblade abilities, which change the element of attacks with sorcery.

1: Basics: Provoke

Soldiers can annoy enemies effectively, making them easier to hit.

Provoke Tech 1 A Inflicts Off Guard on the target until they hit you with an attack.

2: Basics: First Aid

Soldiers can heal themselves

First Aid Tech 1 A Heal WEAPON POWER HP.

3: Command: Cheer

Soldiers can give their allies the optimism necessary to execute a powerful assault.

Cheer Tech 1 A Increase an ally's Weapon Power by your Level for their next attack.

4: Mageblade: Flametongue

Soldiers can weave fire over their weapons.

Flameblade Spell 1 A

The target's attacks deal Fire damage instead of physical damage.

5: Basics: Quick Hit

Soldiers are capable of striking with surprising speed.

Quick Hit Tech 1 A Deal WEAPON POWER damage and the user gains +5 Speed.

6: Command: Goad

Soldiers increase the speed of their allies by yelling at them to go faster.

Goad Tech 1 A You increase an ally's Speed by your Level for their next turn.

7: Mageblade: Icebrand

Soldiers can coat blades with pernicious frost.

8: Basics: Delay Attack

Soldiers can inhibit their enemy's ability to react.

Delay Attack Tech 1 A Deals WEAPON POWER damage and the target takes a -5 Speed loss.

9: Command: Shout

Soldiers can improve their allies overall with a simple command.

Shout Tech 3 A Increase an ally's Weapon Power, Spell Power, Stamina, and Willpower by your Level for their next turn.

10: Mageblade: Sky Render

Your blade turns into a sizzling sliver of electrical energy.

Sky Render Spell 1 A

The target's attacks deal Lightning damage instead of physical damage.

Epic: Command: Charge!

A soldier can inspire all allies to attack!

Charge! Tech 4 A All allies can make a basic attack, dealing WEAPON POWER damage to a target of their choice.

Feats

Soldiers can customize their abilities with feats, gaining new abilities and options.

Basics: Beat Down

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 1
Soldiers swap accuracy for power with this attack.

Beat Down Tech 1 A Your target gets to make an Evade roll with a +10 bonus. Your attack deals DOUBLE WEAPON POWER damage if it does not miss.

Basics: Featherblow

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 1
Soldiers swap power for accuracy with this attack.

Featherblow Tech 1 A Your target gets to make an Evade roll with a -10 penalty. Your attack deals HALF WEAPON POWER damage. This, of course, doubles on a crit.

Basics: Rush

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 1
Soldiers can knock enemies back.

Rush Tech 1 A Deal HALF WEAPON POWER damage and force the target into the Back Row.

Basics: Stone Throw

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 1
Soldiers can hit enemies from a distance.

Stone Throw Tech 1 A Deal HALF WEAPON POWER damage, ignoring Row status.

Command: Battle Cry

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 3
Soldiers can make their allies hungry for war!

Battle Cry Tech 1 A Increase an ally's Weapon Power by your Level +5 for their next attack. They take a penalty to Stamina equal to the amount their Weapon Power increases by.

Mageblade: Liquid Steel

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 4
Soldiers can keep their blade wet with elemental water.

Liquid Steel Spell 1 A
5 MP
The target's attacks deal Water damage instead of physical damage.

Mageblade: Shimmering Blade

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 4
Soldiers weave flame and mania together on their weapons

Shimmering Blade Spell 1 A
10 MP
Deal WEAPON POWER Fire damage and roll Potency.
On a hit, you also inflict Confuse.

Mageblade: Swarmstrike

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 4
Soldiers can poison their blades with magic.

Swarmstrike Spell 1 A
10 MP
Deal WEAPON POWER damage and roll Potency.
On a roll hit, you inflict Poison on the target.

Rank II

Basics: Moogle Shield

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 5
Soldiers can protect themselves from ailments.

Moogle Shield Tech 2 A The next ailment that would be inflicted on the target is automatically removed.

Basics: Salve

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 5
Soldiers can remove ailments in combat.

Salve Tech 2 A One ailment the target is inflicted with is removed.

Mageblade: Air Render

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 6
Soldiers can blast distant foes with ravaging wind.

Air Render Spell 2 A
20 MP
Deal DOUBLE SPELL POWER Wind damage to one enemy.

Mageblade: Hoarfrost Blade

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 7
Soldiers weave ice into the veins of those they strike.

Hoarfrost Blade Spell 2 A
20 MP
Deal DOUBLE WEAPON POWER Ice damage and roll Potency.
On a hit, you also inflict Slow.

Mageblade: Checkmate

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 7
Soldiers can know how to make their enemies slowly suffer before they die.

Swarmstrike Spell 1 A
20 MP
Deal WEAPON POWER damage and roll Potency.
On a hit, you inflict Doom on the target.

Rank III

Basics: Chant

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 8
Soldiers can restore an ally's health at the cost of their own.

Chant Tech 3 A Take damage up to 3 x your level. An ally heals this amount of HP.

Mageblade: Demi Sword

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 8
Soldiers can deform their weapon with the force of gravity.

Demi Sword Spell 3 A
30 MP
The target's attacks each take 1/4 of the enemy's remaining HP, as a Gravity effect.

Mageblade: Blast Wave

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 9
Soldiers can blast distant foes with ravaging wind.

Aurablast Spell 3 A
30 MP
Deal DOUBLE SPELL POWER Wind damage to all enemies.

Mageblade: Skyfury Blade

Prerequisite: Soldier Level 10
Soldiers weave can combine lightning with a berserk fury, and inflict both on their foes

Hoarfrost Blade Spell 3 A
30 MP
Deal TRIPLE WEAPON POWER Lightning damage and roll Potency.
On a hit, you also inflict Berserk.

Epic

Mageblade: Excalibur

Prerequisite: Soldier Epic Level
Soldiers can anoint their weapons in holy oils.

Excalibur Spell 1 A
5 MP
The target's attacks deal Holy damage instead of physical damage.

Mageblade: Lifethread Blade

Prerequisite: Soldier Epic Level
Soldiers weave can combine lightning with a berserk fury, and inflict both on their foes

Hoarfrost Blade Spell 4 A
40 MP
Deal QUADRUPLE WEAPON POWER Shadow damage and roll Potency.
On a hit, you also inflict Doom.

Basics: Delay Buster

Prerequisite: Soldier Epic Level
Soldiers can greatly inhibit their enemy's ability to react.

Delay Buster Tech 2 A Deals DOUBLE WEAPON POWER damage and the target takes a -10 Speed loss.

Command: Assault

Prerequisite: Soldier Epic Level
Soldiers can empower their allies to attack relentlessly.

Assault Tech 4 A Bestows Berserk, Shell, Protect, and Hate on all allies.
