Feats

Overview

Feats are gained every level in FFZ, and they mostly modify things your character can already do such as by providing a circumstantial bonus or by trading off one thing for another. They are not exactly like Support Abilities in that they are not equipped, and that they usually have a cost of some sort.

Stat Swap

Stat Swap feats allow you to selectively trade out some of your statistics, on an at-will basis. Between encounters, you can activate or de-activate any stat swaps, on a case-by-case basis. Stat swap feats generally take a point from one score, and add it to another, and thus let you customize your strategy. Stat swap feats can enhance something you're already good at, or they can shore up a weakness temporarily. If you're a Wizard going up against a powerful Devout-like enemy with a high Mind, for instance, you may want to use a Stat Swap feat to take from your Magick Power and add to your Weapon Power, so that you'll be more effective in the coming battle. You can "turn it off" after the battle and go back to being your normal powerful spellcaster self. Stat swap feats are generally recommended for characters who will benefit from the bonus the most while suffering from the penalty the least, but these are extreme ends of the scale, and you certainly can take them to fill out a more robust middle ground. Indeed, there is a case to make against heavily weighting your character in any one direction too much: if you put all your power into one strategy, and the strategy is thwarted, you're left powerless.
